‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Joseph Gatt Arrested for Alleged ‘Sexually Explicit Communication With a Minor’
Joseph Gatt, who played Thenn Warg on HBO’s Game of Thrones, has been detained on suspicion of having explicit sexual contact with a juvenile.
On April 6, Gatt was served with an outstanding felony warrant under the California Penal Code for Contact with a Minor for Sexual Offense. In a news release issued on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force verified Gatt’s arrest (April 13). According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Information Center, he was freed the same day on $5,000 bond.
“They obtained evidence that Gatt had been engaging in online sexually explicit conversation with a youngster across state lines,” the LAPD said in a statement, adding that the agency is “trying to identify any more victims.”
The 50-year-old actor, who has appeared in films including Thor, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Dumbo as a supporting character, has refuted the claims, calling them “horrifying and utterly false.” “I have confirmed mistakes and incorrect information in today’s press release,” Gatt said in a statement uploaded on social media, adding that he is “totally collaborating with police and LAPD to get to the bottom of this.”
